CHARACTERS

Beast Man is a character from the popular toy line and cartoon series Masters of the Universe, Skeletor's wild right hand. He has control over many wild creatures and has brute force. Beast Man was one of the first seven characters created for the Masters of the Universe toy line by Mattel in the early 1980s, and one of the first four to be completed and released (the other three being He-Man, Man-At-Arms and Skeletor). When the character was developed by Mattel, the name Beast Man was reused from a figure in Mattel's previous Flash Gordon toy line

.

Toy Line.

Beast Man (1982).

Part of the first wave of MOTU figures, Beast Man didn't have any action features, aside from the general waist-twisting action of the line. The figure came with a whip in the form of a rope and a removable armour in the shape of a breastplate and two arm protectors. The toy is notable for the blue markings on Beast Man, a design that was reduced to shadows under the eyes in the animated series

.

Beast Man (2002).

The second figure features more points of articulation, as well as a real-action feature; a button on the back causes your arm to move up and down, either like a whip or a hammer blow, depending on whether or not you're holding your whip. The gun, included with the figure, is now thicker and is made of plastic. Beastman's armor is removable, with distinctive spikes along the back

.

The figure is now noticeably hunched, with the head lower down to give it a more beastly appearance.

Beast Man (MOTU classics).

The newer figure, sculpted by the Four Horseman, is a redesign of the first figure, which mainly shares the same colors and overall design. As before, the figure comes with a whip and removable armor in the form of the classic breastplate/arm guard combo

.

Like the other MOTU classics, the toy now has full articulation in the ankles, knees, hips, waist, shoulders, elbows, wrists and neck. The overall sculpture is also much more detailed.

The biography of Beast Man on his return card read as follows: Real name:

Raqquill Rqaz

After being banished from his home in Vine Jungle, the beast man named Raqquill Rqzz joined a young alchemist named Keldor™ during a skirmish in the Berserker Islands. Like others of his race, Rqaz has the ability to control beasts and monsters. He currently uses this particular talent as the main sequel to Skeletor the Overlord

of Evil.

Skills and Powers.

As the name suggests, Beast Man has an innate connection with animals. His abilities include:

  1. Animal Control: Can communicate with and control a wide variety of creatures, from small insects to gigantic beasts
  2. .
  3. Superhuman strength: Thanks to his unique physiology and Skeletor's experiments, Beast Man has physical strength greater than that of a human.
  4. Improved agility and reflexes: Your senses are highly developed, allowing you to move quickly and precisely in battle.
  5. Wound resistance: Your thick, hard skin protects you from many types of damage.

LORDS OF POWER

The first time i heard of the lords of power exclusive, i imagined that it would be another package that would pass by in my collection. many of these firsts are subject to sale only at conventions (power con) or toy fairs (comic con, toy fair), but to the surprise of many and perhaps due to the pandemic scourge of that year, this exclusive was put on sale at one of the largest online toy stores: bigbadtoystore. without going into price details, we just remember that for the pre-sale of that little package, a non-refundable deposit of more or less 29 dollars had to be made, after that, to wait. masters of the universe fans were very excited to have an exclusive so close at hand, just one click away and that's it. this five-figure package was announced in 2019 as exclusive to power con 2020, but the health conditions resulting from covid-19 meant that the convention was held virtually. both the five-figure set and the she-ra exclusive one (with curly hair) could be ordered online on the power con website and at the aforementioned online toy store (bbts). in 2017, a series of images appeared, incredible shots of what until then were the prototypes of master of the universe, which were called “lords of power”. the images were shared by andy youssi (son of john youssi). andy's father takes those prototypes home and this is his experience: hold on to your seats for this, but after these slides, mattel sent the prototypes to my dad for a month so that i could illustrate the characters and castle grayskull in detail for some of the promotional posters and display shelves placed in the toy stores. my introduction to loving masters of the universe was seeing and falling in love with those lords of power prototypes as a 5-year-old boy, before the public knew what it all was! i think the saddest day of my childhood was when my dad's illustration work finished and he had to pack the prototypes and send them back to mattel... but that month with them made me a fan for life even before they hit the stores! one of the most exciting feelings i had was the anticipation of its launch in stores and the construction of the collection again.
